PostHeaderIcon Reasons That Natural Food Is More Nutritious

Organic vegetables cost a lot more than ordinary foods, and we pay the extra as we think they are much better for us, but are they? This is a heavily debated subject with many on each side of the argument.

There are those who swear by the health benefits of eating organic, while others dismiss this view as garbage. In fact, if you stop and think about it for a moment, naturally grown, organic foods are going to be good for us, fact. Scientific testing backs this up.

Farming organically is good for both our bodies and our planet, only sustainable sources are used so lessen the carbon footprint.

The higher prices that are charged for organic food is justified by the fact that our environment is paying a much lower price than it does by conventional farming methods. Isn’t it worth paying a bit more than risking long term health problems caused by other foods?

In the past we have looked to the FDA for guidance and trusted their judgements, where organic farming is concerned, however, they seem to be dithering. We applauded them for banning some of the pesticides used in conventional farming, but then we found that other carcinogens were still being used. Then they approved the sale to the general public of over 40 kings of GM crops, so my faith in them has drastically declined.

PostHeaderIcon When Kids Hit The Age Of Three

It is always a very great achievement when kids get to the age of three years since some parents always worry that their children would get to some dangerous stage or get into harm’s way as they continue to grow older. Yet children must grow and be the joy of their parents.

When they get to the age of three, they become more skillful in many areas. They usually amass lots of vocabulary to the level of 1000 words and start using longer sentences. It is at this point they begin to practice their vocabulary and talk no end, but it is very good for them so parents should just encourage it.

When they get to three, again they get trained on the potty and though they might still struggle with bedwetting, it is no big deal since they will do this up to around age five. They should be trying out their alphabet and figures too at this point.

The fast growing three year old children will start counting their fingers and indicate their age with their fingers when asked. They also begin to talk about and recognize some colors.

PostHeaderIcon H1N1 Prevention Plan

The H1N1 epidemic is causing people to be more anxious about the state of their health. However, you’ll be sure not to catch swine flu this season if you do just three things.

Firstly, keep washing your hands regularly, especially before you eat. Do this whether you are at home or out in a restaurant. Also, when you get back home from any public place, you should wash your hands before you start doing anything else.

If you find you’re unable to wash your hands for some reason then take care not to touch your face, and your mouth in particular, with your hands. Disease can be prevented from spreading in this way. Hand sanitizers can be used instead of soap and water when they’re not available. However, take care not to overuse these, as you risk killing the good bacteria needed to defend the body from germs.

The second thing is to keep to a healthy diet, eating foods that contain plenty of antioxidants – spinach and blueberries, for example.

PostHeaderIcon Keep Your Gums And Teeth Healthy By Flossing Everyday

Healthy gums and teeth don’t come by accident. It takes a regular regime of brushing and flossing to keep your smile looking good. Unfortunately, many people only complete half of the process. They say they never fail to brush daily but are less vigilant about flossing. This can be detrimental to your oral hygiene since flossing removes food particles that can lead to gum damage.

Still not convinced? Here’s some more information about the benefits of flossing to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

So, what happens if you don’t floss? First, it can lead to the buildup of plaque on your teeth. Plaque develops when food accumulates in the crevices of your teeth over time. This buildup of debris contributes to the formation of plaque.

Accumulations of plaque aren’t pretty. They let everyone who sees your smile know that you don’t take dental hygiene seriously. Heavy plaque is an indicator of poor dental health, so be sure to floss, as well as brush your teeth to prevent plaque from taking over.
